TFS INVITES INVESTMENT IN LUBAGA FOREST FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
The Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) in Shinyanga District has invited stakeholders from within and outside the region to invest in Lubaga Forest as part of efforts to promote sustainable tourism.
Speaking to the media during the commemoration of International Day of Forests, Senior Conservation Officer at TFS Shinyanga District, Fabian Balele, said that projects such as the construction of hotels, conference halls, and sports grounds have been prioritized to create opportunities for communities to engage in social and economic activities.
Balele explained that TFS has developed strategic investment plans aimed at involving various stakeholders interested in undertaking economic projects within the forest.
“This is a great opportunity for Tanzanians to invest and generate income through forest resources while conserving the environment,” he said.
He added that efforts are already underway to develop infrastructure and key attractions in order to improve recreational facilities and support social functions such as weddings, graduations, and group meetings within the area.

Balele also encouraged investors to come forward in large numbers, emphasizing that TFS is ready to enter into partnership agreements with all interested stakeholders.
On his part, a representative of the TFS Western Zone Commander, who is also Senior Forest Officer and Head of Operations, Shadrack Msilu, urged stakeholders to take advantage of investment opportunities available in forests across the regions of Katavi Region, Shinyanga Region, Kigoma Region, and Tabora Region.
Msilu noted that in Shinyanga Region, there are natural Ngitili forests, particularly in the Mhunze-Kishapu area, which present significant business opportunities, including the establishment of service camps such as barbecue (nyama choma) sites during auctions that attract large crowds.
“If stakeholders are ready, we will allocate designated areas for such investments to improve services and enhance economic value in these areas,” said Msilu.
