
Shinyanga Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (SHUWASA) has held a working meeting with journalists from the Shinyanga Press Club (SPC) aimed at strengthening cooperation and improving the delivery of clean water and sanitation services to residents of Shinyanga Region.
The meeting took place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 in Shinyanga and was led by the Director of SHUWASA, Yusuph Katopola, who used the opportunity to explain various steps being taken by the authority to improve water services across the region.
Speaking during the meeting, Engineer Katopola said SHUWASA continues to implement several measures to enhance water supply services, including strengthening water infrastructure, expanding the distribution network to reach areas that previously lacked access to clean water, and addressing minor challenges that arise in service delivery.
He noted that cooperation between SHUWASA and the media plays a vital role in providing the public with accurate information about water services, ongoing projects, and challenges facing the water sector. He emphasized that the media also helps educate communities on proper water use and the protection of water infrastructure.
On their part, the journalists who attended the meeting pledged to continue working closely with SHUWASA in informing the public about water-related issues. They noted that timely and accurate information will help increase public awareness, while also offering suggestions aimed at further strengthening water service delivery, stressing that water remains a critical need for community life and development.
