The District Commissioner of Shinyanga, Julius Sunday Mtatiro, has called on citizens to strengthen their cooperation with the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (TAKUKURU) in order to promote justice and accelerate national development.

Speaking on March 19, 2026, during an Iftar event organized by TAKUKURU in Shinyanga Region, Mtatiro said that the fight against corruption cannot succeed without active public participation.

He noted that corruption is a major obstacle to development and leads to the loss of national resources, emphasizing that such acts involve both parties—those who give and those who receive bribes.

The fight against corruption requires genuine cooperation from citizens to ensure that national resources are managed with integrity and benefit everyone,” said Mtatiro.

He also pointed out that the lack of ethics among some public servants contributes to corruption, resulting in citizens being denied their rights.

Mtatiro urged the public to report corruption incidents to TAKUKURU, stressing that the institution is well-prepared to receive and act on such information effectively.

Many court cases clearly show that there is distortion of facts in order to give or receive bribes for personal gain at the expense of others,” he added.

Mtatiro commended TAKUKURU for continuing to provide public education and for achieving strong community participation in the event, noting that it reflects growing public awareness of the importance of fighting corruption. He also highlighted various ongoing development efforts in the district, particularly in the health sector, and stressed the need for accountability among public servants.

Meanwhile, the Head of TAKUKURU in Shinyanga Region, Donasian Kessy, presented gifts to children living in vulnerable conditions, stating that the initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between the institution and the community.
